Project Specialist for AEGIS Engineering Services and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects for LM Ship Integration and Test (SI&T) and Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) contracts.
Part of the SI&T team supporting Camden, NJ AEGIS operations
The Project Specialist will lead technical and programmatic tasking from NAVSEA, PEO IWS, and MDA representatives.
Coordinate customer interactions at program and technical reviews.
Participate in the Technical Data Package (TDP) process for new construction, modernization, back fit, and AIT projects.
Daily interface with PEO IWS, MDA, NSWC-DD, NSWC-PHD, Shipyards, State and local safety officials, and Regional Maintenance Centers.
Will closely interact with Design engineering, Production programs, Program Management, LM Finance, and LM Contracts
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university or commensurate experience.
Minimum 3 years experience in design, integration, and/or installation engineering with knowledge of CG 47, DDG 51, and/or FMS Aegis or other USN surface ship combat system equipment and land site simulators.
Knowledge of interface protocols, system design criteria, equipment interactions, major signal flows, and USN Shipbuilding Specifications.
Position requires strong initiative characteristics and exceptional teaming skills.
Position requires ability to lead cost estimating tasks and to lead planning efforts for SI&T engineering services and AIT projects.
Position requires occasional travel to SI&T locations in Bath, ME; Washington, DC; Norfolk, VA; Pascagoula, MS; San Diego, CA; and between LM campuses in the Moorestown, NJ area. Position will require infrequent international travel.
Desired skills PMP certification or study.
Knowledge of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK)
Familiarity with Aegis Combat System and BMD systems
Familiarity with the US Navy Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and NAVSEA Technical Specification 9090-310 - Ship Alteration Accomplishment by Installation Teams.
Familiarity with the latest applicable Military Specifications for electrical and optical cable, connector, backshell, and system design, integration, and integrity testing.
Knowledge of Military Specifications and Standards related to bonding and grounding of equipment on Navy Ships, MIL-STD-1310, MIL –STD-1399, and MIL-STD-901D (shock).
Knowledge of Military Specifications and Standards related to ship cooling systems and components.
Prior operational experience in the Aegis fleet.
Familiarity with Earned Value Management techniques and application.
