Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineer in Cape Canaveral, Florida

Candidate will participate in mechanical engineering research, design, development, and production support for electronic packaging and interconnects. The individual will be assigned varied tasks with direction from a senior lead engineer.

Candidate should have knowledge of CAD tools, excellent written and verbal communications skills, and ability to work in a flexible and dynamic team environment.

Candidate will collaborate with electronics engineers and manufacturing in support of flight hardware production. Candidate will lead or support problem investigations, trade analyses, and supply chain issues. Candidate will prepare briefing materials and present results at internal reviews.

Candidate will also perform various duties including: developing and maintaining electronic package designs; investigating design factors such as equipment or part availability, manufacturability, ease of assembly, weight and cost; evaluating vendor designs; troubleshooting and correcting anomalies and discrepant hardware.

Candidate should have knowledge of machining, casting, molds, composite materials, connectors, epoxies, adhesives, and other fabrication methods and materials. Experience using 2D and 3D modeling CAD tools is required.

Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in a Mechanical/Aerospace, Materials, etc. Engineering program from an accredited college or university. * Fluency in MS Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project and Power Point) * Familiarity with CAD solid model design tools.

Desired skills * Strong organization skills, interpersonal/team skills, good communication skills. Ability to work independently. * Practical experience with PTC Creo CAD tools * FBM hardware experience * Experience with industrial and military/aerospace standards and specifications * Understanding of manufacturing processes * Familiarity with the drawing release process, within EPDM preferred * Experience dispositioning nonconforming hardware * Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing * Understanding of mechanical drawings and drafting requirements including ASME Y14.5 * Experience with PWB manufacturing, CNC machining, and casting.
