Lockheed Martin Systems Engineer Manager in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Reports to the GPS IIR Program Manager, supports programatic process including ROM and proposal development. Oversees execution of special studies. Determines and applies appropriate requirements, standards, processes, procedures and tools in mission operations role for the GPS IIR Flight Operations Team. This position requires direct interaction with our Air Force customer on all issues related to sustainment and testing. Performs integration, planning, and coordination between our Flight Operations engineering team and multiple internal/external operations and testing support groups, GPS III IPTs, development groups, and factory systems engineering groups located in Denver, CO, Los Angeles, CA, Valley Forge, PA, and Cape Canaveral, FL. Requires strong organizational and communication skills. The successful candidate will be the GPS Flight Operations On-Orbit Mission Assurance Lead coordinating on all aspects of mission readiness, system test, and on-orbit operations.
Basic Qualifications Anticipates issues and risks and is able to proactively develop solutions. Experience with spacecraft launch requirements, and satellite anomaly resolution. Experience with proposal preparation and submittals. MS Office skills including Word, Excel and Power Point applications. Experience with MS Project and with scheduling and planning system test tasks or similar scheduling tool. Previous experience managing technical teams or large scale projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Self-starter, detail and closure-oriented in task management. An active DoD Secret Clearance is required for this position which requires US Citizenship
Desired skills System engineering processes and GPS ground segment experience with an emphasis on readiness activities and coordination. Familiar with Systems Engineering support of development life cycle (from requirements generation to operational support). Experience with spacecraft operations Launch and Early Orbit (L&EO) exercises and rehearsals with respect to integration and planning of simulator and ground control segment. Familiarity with Assembly, Integrations & Test (AI&T) processes and GPS NAV and NDS Payloads is a plus.
