Lockheed Martin Aircraft Mechanic - Structure Specialty in Corpus Christi, Texas

This job classification is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

This employee will perform organizational, intermediate and depot level airframe maintenance on assigned Customs and Border protection P-3 aircraft. This employee will perform progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, and must read and interpret manufacturers’ and customer provided maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Additional job duties required but not limited to: corrosion control, preflight and post-flight maintenance inspections, miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, tow and jack aircraft and enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verification that the work was performed satisfactorily, and other tasks as deemed necessary. Candidate could be responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft maintenance and/or modification efforts.

Work location is Corpus Christi, TX and deployed locations both CONUS and International.

Additional Requirements: •Physical ability to become respirator qualified and work in confined spaces • Employment is dependent upon successful background, security, and drug screen. Additionally, obtaining and maintaining a DOD Secret clearance and successful completion of a Department of Homeland Security Background Investigation is a condition of continued employment. •Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and to be licensed for and operate appropriate Ground Support Equipment •Ability and willingness to work any assigned shift including days, nights, weekends and overtime as needed. •Employee uses personally owned hand tools; customer provided tools requiring calibration and specialized test equipment. Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications Aircraft structural aircraft mechanics shall have a minimum of 5 years operational and maintenance experience in the design, layout, and performing heavy structural repairs up to and including depot level repairs.

Possess an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate or be a highly qualified applicant who is able to provide documentation (FAA Form 8610-2) giving them the authorization to Test from FAA. Such candidate must obtain certificate within 180-days of hire.

Requires journeyman level experience of the physical properties and working characteristics of sheet metal, knowledge of tools and equipment required in the sheet metal trade.

Desired skills - Experience on P-3 aircraft in the structural repair, fabrication, modification and installation of sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies. - Operational and maintenance experience on large, multi-engine, turboprop (P-3 type) aircraft. Ability to troubleshoot, isolate problems and repair all P-3 aircraft mechanical, electrical, engine and propeller systems excluding avionics. - P-3 engine turn qualification. - Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent - Aircraft welding experience/certification
