Supervises and directs group of 20 – 30 hourly employees and executes rotor blade evaluation/repair tasks, bonding and/or paint operations in accordance with the business requirements. Engages and manages employees to ensure customer commitment as well as safety, quality, and financial standards are met. The ability to provide leadership and technical guidance is a must.
•Assigns work to employees in accordance with schedules, job classifications, qualifications, skills matrix, etc. •Coordinates with personnel within and outside department to resolve operational challenges and resource constraints to ensure customer commitments are met. •Ensures employees follow proper work methods and procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, safety rules and quality and quantity standards. •Checks work methods and results for conformance to standards and re-instructs as required. •Audits employee’s labor charging and timesheet for accuracy and approves in accordance with the company’s labor reporting and time and attendance procedure. •Manages employee performance and development and drives accountability through performance review process, disciplinary actions, coaching, training needs assessment, etc. •Applies and enforces company policies and procedures consistently. •Keeps abreast of all changes to modifications and specifications related to the area of responsibility. •Investigates and reports discrepancies and variables to Operations, Quality and Engineering Management for corrective action using the DIVE tools and methodologies. •Understands and follows rules and regulations pertaining to ESH; contributes to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator-required upkeep; segregates waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
Candidate must successfully complete FAA drug screening test and have no violations of FAA agency regulations documented in the records of drug and alcohol testing carried out by previous employers during the previous two years. This position is a safety sensitive position covered under FAA, subject to ongoing random drug and alcohol screening program. This includes being tested for Marijuana, Cocaine, PCP, Opiates & Amphetamines or a metabolite of these drugs.
Basic Qualifications Industry experience with supervisory experience to demonstrated ability to effectively manage 20-30 employees
Desired skills •Supervisory experience in aviation industry preferred. •Knowledge of FAA Regulations and CFR Part 145 preferred. •Knowledge of Helicopter OEM Products, MRO and heavy composite, a plus. •Strong leadership skills •Ability to drive performance culture and accountability. •Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with ability to communicate with different levels of organization •Strong supervisory skills •Strong team player •Strong time management and project management skills with ability to shift focus and priority based on business needs. •Ability to implement continuous improvements actions through use of continuous improvements tools and principles (i.e., VSM, Kaizen, RRCA, DIVE, Mistake Proofing, etc.). •Ability to read and interpret instructions from OEM engineering drawings and repair manuals •Ability to establish and sustain a lean culture. •Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel). •Must be able to obtain FAA Repairman Certificate. •Must be able to lift 25 pounds individually or 50 pounds with 1 other employee. •Regularly required to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
Supervisors assigned in Paint Department must be able to obtain respirator use clearance via Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire
