Lockheed Martin Senior Staff ASIC & FPGA Design Engineer in El Segundo, California
_ Digital Processor ASIC/FPGA Designer_: The Senior Staff ASIC/FPGA Design Engineer will be working in the RF Center of Excellence (RF CoE). The successful candidate will work with the Advanced RF Programs group to develop a digital Roadmap to meet future Enterprise needs. The individual will also support new business activities across the SSC enterprise and be required to translate customer requirements into lower level specifications and scope the effort to meet the customer requirements. The Senior Staff FPGA/ASIC designer will provide technical support across the enterprise as well as support RF CoE development activities.
The individual will leverage their significant experience in ASIC and FPGA development, digital signal processing and communication theory in addition to perform the following tasks. • Lead a small technical team of ASIC/FPGA designers to achieve project goals. • Establish development project plans and manage them to completion. • Derive specification based on customer requirements. • Develop RTL utilizing a hardware description language (e.g. VHDL, Verilog, and/or System Verilog) and debug the design via simulation tools. • Perform synthesis and place and route (FPGA) or support foundry backend development activities (ASIC). • Develop verification plans and approaches to support development. • Support technical reviews and be able to present to internal and external customers.

Basic Qualifications The individual must have Significant experience in ASIC and FPGA development, digital signal processing and communication theory. • Experience in the architecture definition, design, debug and test of FPGA devices used in high reliability applications • Demonstrated experience implementing and testing DSP/Algorithms for communications systems • Demonstrated ability to derive specification based on customer requirements. • Develop RTL utilizing a hardware description language (e.g. VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog) and debug the design via simulation tools. • Perform synthesis and place and route (FPGA) or support foundry backend development activities (ASIC). • Prior experience as the lead in the development of verification plans and approaches to support development. • Demonstrated ability to lead ASIC/FPGA Development activities. • Demonstrated experience executing trades, evaluating alternatives and presenting to management • Successfully completed complex designs from concept to production • Excellent communication skills • Ability to work with the Microsoft Office suite of documentation • Ability to obtain a security clearance
Desired skills • Subject Matter Expert in ASIC and FPGA development, digital signal processing and communication theory • Experience in the architecture definition, design, debug and test of FPGA devices used in high reliability applications with minimal technical oversight. • Experienced in developing FPGAs/ASICs for high-reliability applications in space environments • HDL programming experience with VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog for synthesis. • Experience evaluating Information Processing cores from multiple vendors and performing trade studies to determine optimal solution. • Experience developing with Xilinx Virtex 5QV (SIRF), Microsemi antifuse • Active TS/SCI Clearance
