Lockheed Martin Electro-Optical Engineer in Fort Worth, Texas
The Lockheed Martin Skunk Works is looking for a new team member to join our Mission Systems team, working from our Fort Worth, Texas location. This opportunity is in the areas of Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensor technology and aircraft integration supporting a number of programs throughout the company. The successful applicant will be primarily focused on supporting the conceptual design, evaluation and integration of EO/IR sensor systems on tactical platforms, working with a multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic work environment. The successful applicant must be able to apply fundamental principles of optics and systems engineering and integration to develop creative and innovative solutions to meet challenging customer requirements.
Good communication and presentation skills, both verbal and in writing, are expected. Experience in one or more of the fields of optics, electrical engineering, systems engineering and aircraft integration is a plus. Familiarity or experience with the design of aircraft optical systems, electro-optical systems and sensors, or integration of sensor payloads on tactical aircraft is also preferred.
The successful applicant will be expected to make frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques in their field, and provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate to challenging scope and complexity, and to work under very general supervision. The ability to go on brief domestic trips, possibly on short notice, is required
The successful candidates MUST be a US citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
The ability to obtain a Top Secret is required, with a preference for individuals who already possess at least a current Secret Clearance with a recent 5-year investigation, or Top Secret Clearance. The ability to obtain necessary program clearances is required. The candidate will need to pass a security screening before interview.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
Experience in one or more of the fields of optics or aircraft optical systems or electro-optical systems and sensors, or integration of sensor payloads on tactical aircraft.
Experience or exposure in an academic, industrial, or government laboratory environment.
Desired skills The successful candidate will provide computational optics analysis and optical system integration support to a variety of Advanced Development Programs.
The successful candidate should have experience with the integration of the optical systems onto tactical aircraft, particularly onto 5th generation aircraft, considering such effects as aero-optics, thermal effects, and LO considerations.
Candidate should be flexible in their analysis approach and toolset used to handle the wide variety of problems and accommodate the different supplier requirements across the industry.
Lab experience, optical design, and program management and technical management experience are desired.
