Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineer / Lethality Engineer / Grand Prairie TX in Grand Prairie, Texas

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Lethality Engineer to perform lethality related engineering research, evaluation, and engineering in order to provide mechanical engineering support for multiple aspects associated with missile systems, warhead technologies, missile defeat mechanisms, protection of ground vehicles and armor defeat for systems during their development and/or production.

The candidate will be responsible for addressing technical issues for the warhead system to include its various subsystems and components leading up to the integration of the warhead system into the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (LMMFC) rocket and/or missile systems. The candidate will also be responsible for addressing technical issues concerning armor protection for ground based vehicles. The candidate will also be supporting high speed impact analysis using structural/hydrodynamic codes. Tasks include support of system level trade studies, support of missile level packaging studies, support of development of interface control drawings, performance specifications and statement of requirements that will be sent to the warhead or armor system subcontractor for use in system development and production. Additional efforts include support of verifying all technical requirements are meet, review of design package information, preparation of test plans, support of component testing and test results, supporting technical interchange meetings and design reviews, support hardware fabrication and testing.

Basic Qualifications - BS or MS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or related field. - Established understanding of high velocity impacts, with a desire to learn more. Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills. - Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Strong writing and verbal communication skills for supporting the generation of various specifications, statement of requirements, test plans, test reports and presentations. - Candidate must have the ability to travel. - Candidate must be able to obtain a security clearance.

Desired skills - MS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or related field plus 1 year related job experience. - Demonstrated mechanical engineering related experience in high velocity impacts. The candidate should be considered knowledgeable and proficient, but is still a learner with emerging technologies. - Candidate must have highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills. The candidate must also have demonstrated creativity/innovation to solve issues. - Capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and working in an inclusive, team environment.
