Lockheed Martin Structural Engineer / Stress Engineer in Grand Prairie, Texas

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical / Structures Stress Engineer to perform analysis, research, and design in such areas as mechanical and stress for development or production. This effort involves complex technical problems that require solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. The assignment includes the design, analysis, research, development, and testing encompassing multiple engineering disciplines; as well as including the planning and advancement of new aerospace products and technologies.

The candidate will be responsible for performing structural (Stress) analysis and testing of top level assemblies, subsystems, and components. Tasks include performing preliminary and detailed structural analysis on component and assemblies using standardized processes and tools. Tasks may also include providing support for structural testing of systems, subsystems, and components. In addition, the candidate will provide technical documentation and input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to program at technical interchange meetings, and design reviews.

Candidate will perform structural analysis using standardized analysis software tools and coordinate requirements and design solutions with program personnel. Responsible for research and development of viable strength, stiffness, stability, and durability solutions for systems and components. Exposure or experience with relevant analytic tools for structural analysis.

Basic Qualifications -Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance. -BS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or related field. -Experience with structural analysis of assembly systems, subsystems, and components. -Strength in structural analysis with a desire to learn more and demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills. -Experience with core structural software (Nastran and Abaqus). -Experience with core or second tier pre and post processing tools (Ansa, Meta, Hypermesh, Patran, and FEMAP). -Experience analyzing and testing structural assemblies and subassemblies made from a multitude of structural materials used in the aerospace industry. -Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). -Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating structural analysis plans, structural analysis reports, documentation, and potentially proposals are necessary.

Desired skills -MS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or related field. -Structural experience in the aerospace industry. -Exposure performing structural analysis using classical methods. -Exposure with dynamic analysis of assembly systems, subsystems, and components, with a desire to learn more analytical skills. -Exposure with rigid body dynamics tools (ADAMS). -Experience with CAD modeling using PTC CREO, FORTRAN programming, NX Nastran, Abaqus, and finite element pre and post processors. -Experience with Matlab and MathCAD. -Proven leadership with demonstrated interpersonal skills. -Creativity/innovation to solve issues related to structural and dynamic performance of any aspect of structure. -Experience developing and analyzing structures for strength and stability. -Experience writing structural and component specifications, and system/subsystem/component test plans.
