Lockheed Martin Structural Engineer in Houston, Texas
Engineering analyst to perform structural analysis (stress, fatigue, and fracture) in support of the Orion Crew Systems teams. Tasks shall include, but not be limited to, the following: 1) Build and develop finite element models from geometric CAD/CAE models; 2) Perform finite element and classical stress analysis of various Orion Crew Systems hardware components and assemblies for both the development, test, and flight vehicles; 3) Perform preliminary and final analyses, part sizing, fatigue/fracture assessment, drawing coordination and sign-off, test support and correlation, analysis presentations, and documentation of analyses for deliverable stress and fracture reports; and 4) Perform analysis of discrepant hardware during on-going assembly and integration activity. Analysis shall include all mission phases from ground handling through landing and recovery.
Basic Qualifications • Bachelors degree in Math, Physics, or Engineering • Minimum 2 years of practical experience with NASTRAN (NX and/or MSC) structural analysis tools & methodology or comparable tools/technologies • Minimum 2 years of practical experience with PATRAN/FEMAP Pre/Post Processing tools & methodology or comparable tools/technologies • Strong understanding of stress analysis principles and practical experience with classical stress analysis techniques. • Familiarity with CAD/CAE solid model design tools • Experience with Windows-based office automation tools (MS Office toolset) • Good verbal/written communication skills
Desired skills • Practical experience with CAD/CAE solid model design tools (PTC Creo/ProductView) • Some familiarity with human-rated spaceflight hardware design and integration • Aerospace or mechanical engineering background • Experience with industrial and military/aerospace standards and specifications • Experience with aircraft/spacecraft subsystem or component structural analysis (stress, fatigue, fracture) especially those involving gas and fluid systems • Familiarity with fracture control methodology and tools • Experience on Lockheed Martin space or NASA Programs especially the NASA Orion Program
