Lockheed Martin Strain Gage Technician in Jupiter, Florida
Sikorsky Aircraft's Development Flight Center (DFC) Instrumentation group is seeking a motivated, high energy, experienced individual to be a strain gage technician specializing in the instrumentation of flight and ground test assets. Under minimal supervision, candidate will build and install instrumentation/data collection systems for Flight Test Programs which provide the measurements required by the Engineering Department and/or contractual obligations. Candidate will be responsible for the surface preparation, installation, check-out and operation of strain gage measurements. Candidate must be familiar with surface preparation techniques, selection and application of adhesives, and installation of full bridge, half bridge, and single active gages. Strain gage troubleshooting experience is also required. Other responsibilities include: installation of thermocouples, accelerometers and a variety of other electronic components/sensors as required, interpret wiring drawings, and troubleshoot equipment, measurement anomalies and construction of harnesses and electrical devices. This assignment will include on-the-job training on ground and flight instrumentation efforts and instrumentation system maintenance. Candidate will also support status and technical meetings as required. Requires flexibility to support overtime, extended and modified shift requirements.
Basic Qualifications The successful candidate shall meet the following requirements:- High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical/para-engineering tasks and 7 Years or more of experience.- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of strain gage application to support test instrumentation -Experience and ability to accomplish required surface preparation, strain gage measurement, layout, alignment and bonding. Experience with measurement systems, instrumentation wiring, documentation, and Wheatstone Bridge wiring of strain gages to measure Torque, Axial Load, Bending and Shear strain. Experience troubleshooting and repairing strain gage measurements. - Familiarity with electronic tools such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.- Solder/de-solder experience required. Experience reading wiring diagrams and interpreting schematics and engineering drawings
Desired skills The following are preferred attributes for the successful candidate: - Experience with harness builds, connector pin-outs, crimping and cable installation. - Solder certification to IPC-J-STD-001 is a plus.- Aviation-related work experience is highly desired.- AutoCad software experience is desired.- Experience troubleshooting instrumentation hardware components and sensors is desired.- Familiarization with Electrostatic Discharge safety methods and protocols.- Familiarization with rotary wing instrumentation is desired
