Lockheed Martin Automated Mach Mechanic in Marietta, Georgia

Installs, maintains, overhauls, rebuilds and modifies machine drive, control feedback, and carriage traversing systems of all types industrial automated machines including Numerical Control (NC), Manual Data Input (MDI), and Direct Numerical Control (DNC) tied into the Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) concept, with minimum technical assistance and follow-up requiring ingenuity and expertise in diagnosing and correcting machine malfunctions. This occupation also covers the installation, servicing and repairing of power machine tools, fabrication machines, and non-production plant equipment and aids, and the erection of structural steel installations, excluding air conditioning and refrigeration equipment repair.

Apply a complete knowledge of industrial automated machine maintenance, rebuilding, and modification theory, techniques and practices and a working knowledge of Electronic control devices and computer NC controlled equipment to isolate servo-control and mechanical drive system malfunctions. To apply an overall knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures with respect to the installation, moving, service, and repair of machine tools, fabrication machines and non-production machinery such as overhead cranes and turbines, and service systems mechanical equipment, machine bearing and rigging points, capacities, limitations and operating characteristics and of the fabrication assembly of non-production plant equipment and aids. A knowledge of optics and physics relating to light transmission, air stratification, compensation curves and computer utilizations including a familiarity with computer software. To read and interpret complex engineering drawings, manufacturers drawings, specifications and not fully detailed verbal instructions. To test operate machine tools, fabrication machines, and non-production machinery. To maintain exacting coordinated dimensions with respect to machine adjustments and rebuilding requirements. to work to exacting tolerances with respect to machined and welded parts and combinations thereof and to use shop mathematics including trigonometry.

Candidate required to take and satisfactorily complete an entrance Proficiency Demonstration (PD). To qualify for the PD, a candidate is required to have the following minimum level of experience and/or training:

  1. Three years of experience repairing, setting up, and maintaining NC or CNC equipment,

OR

  1. Completion of a high quality industrial based Machine Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship Program. Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT) Certified Apprenticeship programs are typically 8000 hours in duration.

OR

  1. Completion of a high quality industrial based Automated Machine Mechanic Training Program. These programs should typically be 4000 hours in duration, similar in curriculum and standards as #2 above.

Basic Qualifications A candidate is required to take and satisfactorily complete an entrance Proficiency Demonstration (PD). To qualify for the PD, an employee is required to have the following minimum level of experience and/or training:

  1. Three years of experience repairing, setting up, and maintaining NC or CNC equipment.

OR

  1. Completion of a high quality industrial based Machine Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship Program. Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT) Certified Apprenticeship programs are typically 8,000 hours in duration.

OR

  1. Completion of a high quality industrial based Automated Machines Mechanic Training Program. These programs should be typically 4,000 hours in duration, similar in curriculum and standards as 2 above.
