Will be a part of the Aegis Modernization Team supporting Aegis Combat Systems Ship Installation Test and Trials in Norfolk, Virginia and with our Navy customer. The groups primary responsibility centers around the installation, test and repair of Combat System equipment (ORDALTS, SHIPALTS, FMB’s) on USN and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) surface combatants throughout the world. Will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Will also be required to submit to drug screening per company policy. Extensive travel will be required; as much as 50%.The CODS Equipment Technician is responsible for ensuring AEGIS Tactical Computer System, Operational Readiness Test System (ORTS), Display Systems and BFTT equipment are operable and available. Technician assists in identifying, isolating and repairing related equipment problems.
Specific Responsibilities Include: The Weapons Engineer is responsible for ensuring all AEGIS Weapons Control System (WCS) equipment and related interfaces are operational and available. The Weapons System Engineer in SCN will also be responsible for ensuring the FCS element are operational and available, in additional to equipment suites, setup configurations, equipment interfaces and data extraction requirements for testing. The Weapons Engineer reports to the AWS Engineer Lead and coordinates with the Availability Project Engineer, Test Coordinator (TC) and Test Director for WCS test related matters.
Basic Qualifications Ability to: ∙Setup configurations, equipment interfaces and data extraction requirements; including ACEG equipment ∙Proper activation and operation of the computing environment; configuration and computer program operation and interface with other elements ∙Assume responsibility for Advanced Tactical processor hardware and firmware infrastructure engineering ∙Conduct tests, analyze test results and report findings for functional tests ∙Provide engineering support for the interfaces and capabilities and limitations ∙Provide LINKS operational support (support C2P and CDLMS operations and interfaces and well as AWS functionality and operation) ∙Serve as waterfront CEC system expert to support equipment/operations if ISEA is not available ∙Prepare for computer program and/or equipment changes ∙Analyze pre-availability baseline test packages and resolve discrepancies ∙Review existing C&D/ADS test procedures and recommend changes ∙Coordinate participation of all support participants required to support tests ∙Interface with CS In-Service Engineering Agencies (ISEA), Software Support Activities (SSA) and Combat System Engineering Agent (CSEA) as required in preparation for tests ∙Identify necessary data recording extraction point sets, special recording devices, special instrumentation, software modifications and data collection media required to support the tests, data analysis tools, the scope and reporting requirements of the analysis effort ∙Ensure C&D/ADS equipment is properly configured for each test event ∙Provide support for crew preparations for trials ∙Perform data collection/analysis for summary report, problem isolation and problem resolution ∙Document test procedure discrepancies for future revision ∙Fault Isolate C&D/ADS equipment, configuration, and computer program problems ∙Ensure C&D/ADS discrepancies are documented utilizing the Availability Observation Report (AOR) process and applicable fleet feedback response is processed (i.e. 2K, TMDER, TFBR) ∙Support crew familiarization with C&D/ADS equipment, maintenance and operations ∙Analyze C&D/ADS data and provide findings in final report to status success of meeting TSTP requirements, identify any outstanding issues, identify plan for issue resolution and compile lessons learned for areas of responsibility ∙Maintain current status of unresolved C&D/ADS AORs and provide recommendations to CSPE ∙Assist the CSPE and TC in development of the Lessons Learned reports and provide EOA summary reports. Able/willing to travel as required. Familiar with BMD and Mission Planning Function Familiar or experience with the Aegis Baseline 7, 8, and 9
Desired skills Aegis system test, assessment or certification experience; experience working with MIL-SPEC and COTS equipment/systems.
