Lockheed Martin Guidance Navigation & Control Engineer / Algorithm Development / Orlando, FL in Orlando, Florida

Seeking an experienced individual to lead an Algorithm Development Team. The task is going to involve development, integration, flight test planning, and requirements verification. Determining tasks and objectives with management, communicating findings and status with the customer and senior management, resolving issues, and supporting software updates are all managed by this individual. This individual will lead a small team in these tasks while also keeping the algorithm suite in communication with the Program. This individual should have knowledge of Navigation, Servo Controls, Signal Processing, and Inertial Tracking. This individual should have experience reviewing analysis results, determining the next step and estimating how long tasks will take. This individual should also have experience leading a team and reporting status to senior management. This individual should have experience communicating with the customer and relaying issues, status, and the resolution path. The individual should be fluent in C++ and MATLAB so they can support the team in investigating findings.

A Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) engineer assures that a platform is capable of finding its way to an intended destination and delivering its payload optimally. This is accomplished, in part, by performing Missile 6DOF simulation analysis and Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) simulation analysis. Inclusive in this process is the development and analysis of guidance, navigation and autopilot algorithms. In addition, development of simulation models and performing hardware integration is required. Performance verification and troubleshooting is also required. Target tracking is an integral part of guidance and fire control. The engineer will be responsible for designing target tracking systems which generally include target state estimation and target/detection association and assignment which is particularly challenging in surveillance systems.


Basic Qualifications Must have experience with feedback control system design and analysis and knowledge of basic aerodynamic principles. Strong math skills are required in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, and trigonometry and coordinate transformation. The candidate must have experience with state estimation filters such as Kalman, Extended Kalman filter (EKF) and multiple model adaptive estimation. Experience in terrestrial navigation and navigation state error estimation is also required. Must be experienced in MATLAB and C/C++ programming.

Must have a secret clearance with an investigation within the last 5 years.

Desired skills Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) simulation experience is desired. Flight software integration and verification experience is also a plus. Experience with Embedded Software, RF/EO knowledge, and experience programming in FORTRAN is also a plus.
