Lockheed Martin Manufacturing Engineer Senior / Tool Design / GD&T / Orlando, FL in Orlando, Florida
Lockheed Martin is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer/Tool Designer to support the Machining Operations Center (MOC) located within the Orlando, FL Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) facility. MOC produces ultra-precision machined components that are the foundation of infrared and electro-optical targeting systems used primarily for defense applications. The parts supplied by this center support sales in excess of $1B annually.
Primary Responsibilities include: •Collaborate with design engineering, production and other stakeholders to conceptualize, design, and fabricate special tools, holding fixtures, assembly fixtures, and inspection gauges necessary for the manufacture of components to the requirements of the engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models •Create detailed tool design drawings, complete with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), utilizing PTC Creo. •Provide shopfloor support as necessary to resolve tooling, technical and/or manufacturing related issues. •Perform other duties as assigned. •Willingness to learn and receive training, and if required, train others.
Basic Qualifications •(5) yrs experience designing holding fixtures, inspection gauges and other special tools required for the manufacture of components by multi-axis CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Mill-turns, EDM’s, and other similar precision equipment. •Ability to read drawings and specifications. •Advanced understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). •Advanced ability utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) – PTC Creo or equivalent. •B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technology or related degree
Desired skills •PTC Creo CAD •Windchill PLM •General knowledge of machining, assembly, inspection, and test processes. •Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools, including Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) •Good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written •Experience working on projects with teams as a leader and participant •Familiarity with ISO9000 and AS9100 industry standards, and common military specifications.
