Lockheed Martin Senior Mechanical Engineer / Thermal Engineer / Orlando, FL in Orlando, Florida
This position is contingent upon a future contract award (expected in Q4 of 2017) supporting a Missiles & Fire Control program within the Engineering & Technology function, as well as Customer funding for this position.
Thermal analysis mechanical engineer in the hardware engineering team responsible for development of mechanical, structural, optical, thermal and electronic systems and assemblies. Responsible for research and development of viable thermal and structural solutions for systems and components. Experienced with relevant analytic tools for thermal and structural analysis. Create and correlate analytical models to provide guidance for product development. Functions also include performance, structural and thermal tests and measurements. Reports and documents product structural and thermal performance. Assesses design merits with regard to product specification and reliability. Works with materials and parts suppliers, including plastics, composites, wrought and cast metals, ceramics, additive materials, fans, blowers, heat-sinks, and thermal interface materials..

Basic Qualifications -BS or MS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (or related field). -Experience with FEM solvers, preferably NX Nastran 8.x, or other comparable FEM pre/postprocessors. -Experience with thermal analysis software such as Patran and NX. -Demonstrated thermal test planning and execution skills. -Demonstrated strength in either thermal or structural analysis with a desire to learn more. -Candidate must have an Active Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
Desired skills -Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills. -Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills for generating test plans, test reports, documentation, and potentially proposals are necessary. -Mature computer skills are required, including proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
