Lockheed Martin Staff Systems Safety Engineer / Hazard Analysis / CSP / Orlando, FL in Orlando, Florida

This position is contingent upon a future contract award (expected in Q4 of 2017) supporting a Missiles & Fire Control program within the Engineering & Technology function, as well as Customer funding for this position.

The Systems Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the products developed at LMMFC and sold to the military are safe for the warfighter to use. Candidate will be expected to work semi-autonomously, be highly proactive and be able to handle significant responsibility. The candidate will employ safety analysis techniques which will be performed on the system. The primary job responsibility will be that of performing Hazard Analysis per MIL-STD-882 and contract requirements. Independently analyzes and recommends safety features and controls for system design, software, training and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards; Performs and supports the development of safety documentation to support customer and contract requirements; Supports the development of integrated system hazard analyses; Works with systems and software engineering on architecture, Use Cases and software safety analyses; Assures the program defines and collects evidence in meeting established software safety requirements; Prepares and delivers presentations and participates in safety review meetings, system design meetings, program engineering review and change board meetings; Ensures hazard controls are properly implemented and verified; Participates in the development of testing activities to assure safety requirements are met; Reviews and provides input to Systems Engineering, Design and Software documentation consistent with project phase to include requirements development, design, development, verification, test methods and performance verification; Reviews specifications, technical documentation, and changes to those documents for impacts to system safety. The results of these analyses will be documented in technical reports. Candidate will interface with the Customer and Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Human Factors and other Engineering disciplines on a daily basis and should have strong interpersonal skills and a desire to learn. Candidate will spend majority of time working in a team environment, providing inputs to the software/hardware and systems engineers, supporting meetings, performing analyses, and writing reports.

Basic Qualifications -Candidate must be a US Citizen and hold an Active Department of Defense Secret clearance with an investigation within last 5 years. -System safety experience in developing and interpreting system safety requirements / design practices. -Experience performing Safety Hazard Analyses, including fault tree analysis. -Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships. -Excellent oral and written communication skills. -Technical writing experience and ability to present in front of large groups. -Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Desired skills -Experience supporting MIL-STD-882 programs. -Software Safety analyses per AMCOM 385-17; including Hardware/Software fault insertion design and test experience. -Experience in electrical circuit design and/or performing bent pin analysis/energy trace. -Knowledge of Human Factors and Systems Engineering is a plus.
