Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control business area is experiencing some substantial growth at our campus in Orlando, FL.
Candidate will be a member of a team of Technical Writers that provide a wide array of technical documentation written to Military Specifications. Primary responsibilities include developing change packages for US Air force Technical Orders (TOs) and US Army Technical Manuals (TMs). Candidate must possess and understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing process plans and possess excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work well in a team environment. Must be flexible with outstanding work ethic and possess the ability to respond quickly to company and client needs. Candidate must be willing to work overtime as required. Some travel may be required.

Central Florida offers lots of attractive residential housing options. The Greater Orlando metropolitan area is the sixth largest metro area in the southeastern United States. The climate here is warm and sunny all year long for the most part. Orlando is home to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Florida, and SeaWorld. Orlando is also home to the second largest University in the US, the University of Central Florida (UCF). Where can you get to from Orlando? Orlando is about an hour's drive from Cocoa Beach and the "space coast" to include NASA and the Kennedy Space Center. Tampa is about 1.5 hours from Orlando. West Palm Beach is about 2.5 hours to the south and Jacksonville is about 2 hours to the northeast. Atlanta, GA is 6 hours to the northwest.
Basic Qualifications* -Have a working knowledge of MIL-STD style guides MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-38784, or equivalent. -Ability to write technical content for maintenance technical manuals including installation, test, repair, and troubleshooting procedures. -Bachelors Degree in English, Technical Writing or similar degree. -Ability to obtain a security clearance. -Ability to travel.
Desired skills* -Experience in HTML/SGML/XML editing software and Arbortext Editor. -Experience with tracking status for multiple projects. -Previous military experience or working in DoD industry. -Ability to interpret drawings, write using clear and concise language that adheres to customer-established standards and conventions.
