First Line Management (FLM) position responsible for the Engineering Technology and Services department in Owego, NY, reporting to the RMS Engineering Support Operations organization, as part of the Infrastructure Engineering (IE) organization. This position will be accountable for approximately 10 direct reports who support Rotary & Mission Systems (RMS) in the following aspects: 1) RMS wide mechanical and electrical engineering tools strategic deployment, support, and upgrades, 2) metrics development, 3) Engineering Planner support, 4) Requirements Management, 5) Locally developed tools along with COTs integration. Responsible for coordinating employee activities, providing technical direction, and interfacing with related team members and leadership across RMS in order to achieve strategic goals. Works across RMS engineering functional disciplines and the IT organization to develop and implement strategic tools roadmaps. Ensures that projects are completed on schedule following established procedures, schedules, and work plans.
Job responsibilities of this management position include: 1) HR management of all department personnel, 2) mentor personnel and provide technical and personnel leadership, 3) provide a positive influence on the productivity and morale of the department, 4) support staffing actions to include workload analysis, succession planning, recruiting and retention initiatives, 5) deliver effective, efficient and consistent engineering support services throughout program life cycles, 6) create, capture and analyze metrics aimed at maintaining or improving department health indices, 7) work seamlessly with counterpart engineering and EBS organizations and departments.
Occasional travel will be required.
Basic Qualifications Strong and proven understanding of the Engineering development process. Experience with Mechanical tools such as PTC Creo, CreoView, Workgroup Manager, Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc.. Demonstrated strong technical background in engineering with emphasis on Mechanical Engineering Experience Demonstrated strong communication, coordination, inclusion and planning skills. Demonstrated Full Spectrum Leadership skills. Experienced at preparing and reviewing cost estimates Demonstrated ability to work with cross functional virtual teams Working knowledge and/or previous mechanical or electrical design tool experience. Ability to obtain DoD SECRET clearance. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or other related degree.
Desired skills Demonstrated experience with RMS common design processes, standard design tools and the configuration management process. Commitment to advancing automation within the constructs of the Digital Development Environment (DDE) A self-starter and works well in a multi-disciplined teaming environment including a virtual customer base New business Capture and/or Proposal and Cost Review experience. Strong analytical/debug skills. Experience in direct supervision of technical personnel Experience with licensing of engineering tools Experience in leading functional projects Experience working with Software Suppliers Engineering tools support experience Working knowledge of business metrics Working in a virtual environment Active DoD SECRET clearance. CAM Certified
