Fabricates, cures, builds up and assembles various types of plastic, ceramic and composite products and assemblies, including bonded and mechanically-fastened assemblies, where required information is readily available, methods and sequences have been predetermined and tooling is provided; works to blueprints, templates, sample parts, process sheets and other authorized information, exercising a working knowledge of the physical characteristics of plastic parts and assembly techniques; builds laminated assemblies by laying up composite, plastic and metal parts and adhesives onto tools or molds; operates various types of cutting and trimming equipment to trim parts to finished tolerances; performs final finishing operations such as hand and power drilling, grinding, sanding, filing, burring and polishing; performs drilling, reaming countersinking and the installation of fasteners.
Performs rework to the level of difficulty of the operations described above.
Must possess certifications required by the Company. Must demonstrate skills equivalent to Blueprint Reading I. Must be knowledgeable in the use of process specifications. PERFORMS SUCH RELATED DUTIES AS:
Scribes lines on flat and contoured parts, working to available tooling such as templates, drill jigs and sample parts.
Improvises shop aids to facilitate fabrication, trimming and assembly operations as required.
Checks expiration dates of materials prior to use; prepares proper impregnates materials as required. Lays out and cuts plastic strips for testing purposes.
Helps maintain work area in orderly condition by returning tools, equipment and materials to storage areas.
Maintains records for regulatory purposes.
Standing: Requires full time standing with limited resting periods and to walk distances. Sit for extended periods if required. Heights: Able to work at heights. Able to climb stairs or ladders as required. Able to work off of step stools, scissor lifts, lift platforms and aircraft structure without handrails. Overhead work: Able to work overhead as required. Weight restriction: Able to Lift/push/pull/carry a minimum of 40 lbs. Body positioning: Able to twist/bend (neck or waist) and stoop. Able to work in awkward positions as required. Able to squat/kneel/crawl/reach as required. Work content: Able to use/hold/manipulate small tools and parts with hands. Simple grasping, power grasping and fine manipulation is required. Able to use vibrating tools and perform torqueing operations. Able to use power equipment. Repetitive tasks will be performed. Able to use computer keyboard, mouse and monitor for extended periods of time. Vision/Hearing: High level Hand/Eye coordination required. Corrective lenses may be used. Eye protection required in many instances. Color differentiation may be required. Must be able to hear at level required for positions. Environmental: Able to work around noise, chemicals, fumes and dust. Capable of using respirators and other personal protective equipment including hearing protection if required. Able to work outside if needed. Attendance: Regular attendance required based on set work schedule. Able to work any shift. Vehicles/Power moving equipment: Able to operate as required. Able to work around heavy equipment or machinery.
Basic Qualifications Secret clearance.
Must possess a minimum of two years of tooling, composites and fabrication experience
Desired skills Must be able to attain a Final Secret clearance.
Must possess certification required by the Company. Must demonstrate skills equivalent to Blueprint I and shop math. Must be knowledgeable in the use of process specifications.
