Lockheed Martin Regional Sales Manager – U.S. in Shelton, Connecticut

Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, based in Stratford, CT, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced helicopters for commercial and military missions.  Commercial Systems and Services has responsibility for Sikorsky’s commercial products and is seeking candidates for a Regional Sales Manager for the Western United States.This position reports to the Director of Sales for US and Canada and has sales responsibility for the west coast . The main functions are to organize, plan, and manage business development, sales and customer relationship efforts in the region to meet business objectives. The position will also require a broad interface with multiple company disciplines including business development, International BD and Program Management, Customer Support, Operations, Legal, ITC, etc., including ownership of a number of potential marketing licenses.This position will also be responsible for planning, capturing and facilitating new business opportunities for all of Sikorsky Aircraft’s product lines.Responsibilities include:1. Develop sales leads, establish win plans, and lead or co-lead Business Acquisition Teams to capture opportunities. This includes the marketing, promotion and selling of all related products and services.  The regional manager will also be responsible for working with the Aftermarket Sales Manager for the region to develop a portfolio ranging from spares agreements to upgrades/modifications including establishing a customer support services center.2. Develop business objectives, strategies, and plans for the region including but not limited to developing a funnel of opportunities, projected sales and revenues, and growth strategies to maximize market share.3. Assess competitive landscape and gather/maintain all intelligence data pertinent to aftermarket strategy. Maintain detailed knowledge of economic, political, social, military and commercial factors associated per country to formulate local strategies.4. Build strong relationships with customers, and Sikorsky non-employee sales representatives.5. Identify strategic partnering opportunities and engage in discussions/negotiations with potential partners per the process.7. Create and conduct Executive Management reviews to gain alignment and approval for sales and strategic targets.8. Regularly interface with appropriate stakeholders and align all pursuits and strategies with management. Be cognizant of all pursuits and ensure they are carried out with an overall eye on maintaining and building positive customer relationships.9. Assist in managing the sales representation process and own the communication with in-country sales representatives including assessment of their performance.10. Enter and ensure all data is entered in Sikorsky’s customer relationship management database.11. Responsible for the completion of other tasks as management assigns them.

Basic Qualifications Qualifications for assignment to this position include ten plus years of experience in the aviation industry, preferably in the rotary-wing market. The incumbent must have a comprehensive knowledge of the rotary-wing industry, aircraft support, program management, marketing principles and practices, a thorough understanding of related industry practices, and a firm knowledge of the various styles and types of governments in the assigned territory.The ability to meet and converse easily, at all levels, with law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire-fighting, search and rescue, utility and VIP customers, whether a high level ranking officials and/or technical customer personnel is also required. Commercial helicopter or military pilot experience is highly desirable, as is familiarity with and knowledge and experience with Sikorsky products.Other qualifications include:- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.- Demonstrated success in working in a matrix environment- Ability to establish strong collaboration with all different functions and departments across Sikorsky Aircraft.- Ability to create, compose, edit written materials.- Excellent oral and presentation skills.
