Lockheed Martin Electro-Optical Mechanism Engineer in Sunnyvale, California
_Sunnyvale, California_: Designs and tests optical mechanisms (e.g. gimbals, fast steering mirrors, etc.) with specific characteristics to fit within specified mechanical limits and to perform according to specifications. May conduct application analysis to determine commercial, industrial, scientific, medical, military or other use for electro-optical devices. Works with LM Senior Engineers to develop a better understanding of the unique aspects of Electro-Optical mechanism design features and constraints, and how their performance affects the Optical Payload.

Basic Qualifications Technical proficiency in mechanical design layout tools (Creo, etc). Understanding of or willingness to learn attributes necessary to develop precision mechanisms to optical tolerances. Knowledge of or willingness to learn unique design aspects of electro-optical systems. Self-starter with initiative and tenacity to meet deadlines with quality products. Team-player with the ability to work with a diverse range of individuals. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Desired skills Knowledge of Optical Design software such as Zemax, Code V, ASAP. Experience designing space flight hardware. Experience designing electro-optical mechanisms. Understanding of optical system layout constraints and interactions. Demonstrated potential to advance in technical and programmatic responsibilities supported by collaborations with subject matter experts in the field and challenging program achievements.
