Lockheed Martin Human Resources Senior Manager in Sunnyvale, California
The leader in this role will have the opportunity to direct a large team of Human Resources Business Partners who report to two subordinate HR managers, in support of the Strategic & Missile Defense (SMD) Line of Business (LOB). This complex position spans several geographic sites, across the US and UK, and interacts with various senior leaders across multiple programs to help develop, implement and drive effective HR solutions and processes.
This role is of high impact as the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program is undergoing reshaping and there are program competitions of significant magnitude, including Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) and Long Range Stand Off (LRSO) with anticipated awards in the very near future.
The selected individual will have a strong capability to anticipate client needs and proactively identify areas for collaboration and integration inside and outside the HR organization, while serving as a coach and confidant to the SMD Vice President & General Manager. Ability to advise and collaborate with key stakeholders in the development of the HR Strategic Plan, roll out of key HR initiatives, reporting and communications will be also be critical.
The HR team has a broad range of responsibilities that includes, but are not limited to, salary management planning, incentive planning, performance management, talent management, employee relations, coaching, job audit analysis, compensation analysis, workforce planning, HR metrics, training and development, and organizational development. The position is responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
The HR senior manager will motivate and engage the HR professionals to perform productively in a team environment, set an example of ethical behavior, have excellent problem solving skills and thrive in an environment of continual change. This position will have a strong partnership with Labor Relations to strategize appropriate workforce plans as a significant number of employees deployed to SMD are represented. There may be 5-10% travel to the SMD field sites, both in the US and UK.
Basic Qualifications • Minimum 10 years of experience in varied HR assignments with 3 years of recent HR business partner experience and 4 years recent HR leadership experience while supporting clients at Director and Vice President levels • Demonstrated experience to organize, manage and integrate multiple geographically dispersed teams and clients successfully • Validated successful project management experience for large scale activity • Ability to utilize personnel systems to obtain data for analysis and reports, as appropriate • Proficient in Microsoft applications, specifically Excel, pivot tables and other tools • Ability to produce graphic representations of analytical data for presentations • Leadership experience making difficult and sometimes unpopular decisions • Established experience leading a change initiative • Confirmed experience developing HR professionals • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
Desired skills • Strong persuasion and negotiations skills and experience • A broad human resource background to include functional experience in one or more HR Centers of Excellence (COE) including staffing, compensation, labor relations or EOP • Previous assignments operating in a virtual organization • Strong written and verbal communication, and presentation skills and executive presence • Proven ability to move seamlessly from strategy to flawless execution • Strong analytical skills • Strong business acumen skills • Willingness to travel to geographic locations where SMD has significant responsibility • Full Spectrum Leader (demonstrated ability to Shape the Future, Build Effective Relationships, Energize the Team, Deliver Results, and Model Personal Excellence, Integrity and Accountability) • Master’s degree in Human Resources or related field • SHRM and LM 21 Green Belt certifications • Able to travel 5-10% in US and UK
