_Sunnyvale, California_: Analyzes and tests optical and electro-optical system and component performance (Structural-Thermal-Optical (STOP) analysis), and provides design inputs based on the analyses. Applies research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical manipulations. Works with LM Tech Fellows to develop a better understanding of the unique aspects of Optical Payload design and the effects of design choices on system performance.

Basic Qualifications Technical experience performing STOP analysis and with the key analysis tools (NASTRAN, Zemax, Thermal Desktop, etc). Understanding of attributes necessary to develop optical payloads that meet performance in the space environment. Knowledge of unique performance aspects of optical payloads. Self-starter with initiative and tenacity to meet deadlines with quality products. Team-player with the ability to work with a diverse range of individuals. Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Desired skills Knowledge of design tools (Creo, etc.). Experience testing space flight hardware. Experience designing Optical Payloads. Understanding of optical payload design constraints and interactions. Demonstrated potential to advance in technical and programmatic responsibilities supported by collaborations with subject matter experts in the field and challenging technical achievements.
