Guidance, Navigation, and Control Senior Manager. The Guidance, Navigation, and Control Directorate has an opening for Senior Manager of the GN&C Hardware Products department, one of three departments within the Guidance, Navigation, and Control Directorate in the Space and Missile Systems Engineering organization. This position reports to the Guidance, Navigation, and Control Director and manages a geographically-distributed organization of GN&C engineers supporting programs in both Space and Missile Systems.

Engineering Senior Managers have responsibility for overseeing product development, production, and integration for their specific discipline’s products, ensuring that their organization develops and maintains the skills necessary to satisfy the technical needs of the Space Systems Company programs, and promotes career development for their personnel.

In the SSC matrix organizational structure, the Senior Manager of the GN&C Hardware Products will be “badged” and “matrixed” to the GN&C Director, with responsibility for an SSC-wide team focus on people, products, technology, and processes, with much of their team “matrixed” to programs throughout SSC. He/She will ensure the technical integrity of the LOB/Program design baselines, incorporate best practices and optimum technical design, facilitate the movement of GN&C personnel and skills to support LOB/program technical needs, and oversee the planning, training and development of engineering personnel resources for GN&C Hardware Products. This includes knowledge sharing through career planning and assignments. The successful manager must work collaboratively with the LOB/Program Senior Manager and Managers to: Identify and propagate design technology selection and best-practices, ensure technical domain expertise of the entire team, drive process and tool development and deployment, resolve critical technical issues, support new business initiatives, ensure standard technical processes are in use on programs, manage staffing requirements, plan job assignments and rotations, manage personnel performance assessment and development, sustain engineering capabilities and preserve critical skills, support IRAD investment strategy and strategic development for GN&C, and demonstrate Full Spectrum Leadership behaviors.

The GN&C Hardware Products Sr. Manager will manage GN&C hardware component engineering, Certified Responsible Engineers (CPEs) and related engineering to support GNC Hardware Products design, build, test, and operation.

Support many ancillary activities related to GN&C including: - Engineering Corrective Action Board (ECAB) - Command Media Ownership - Lead Affordability Initiatives - Lead Error-Free Engineering and support Back to Basics Collaborative Engineering (BBCE) and Supplier Technical Validation - Foster Technical Knowledge Management - Partner with Subcontract Management Initiatives - IRAD Project Management Oversight of GNC Components - CIPS Training (Process Standards & Guidance) - Tools Ownership and Tools Training - Proposal Support (INAR, Red Team, Pink Team) - Chief Engineer support - University Relations - Industry Relations and Engagement - Engineering Process Improvement (EPI) Representation - Corporate Initiatives - Intellectual Property Review Board Support - Communities of Practice - Mission Success Lessons Learned

Basic Qualifications Demonstrated ability to lead a broad-based engineering organization and produce results by successfully prioritizing and balancing multiple assigned objectives and tasks.

Ability to collaborate with LOB/Program leaders to align the goals of LOB/programs and Engineering to produce results that meet all SSC objectives.

Previous experience with Full Spectrum Leadership (FSL) or equivalent industry leadership experience and at least 15 years overall technical experience.

Technical background that includes experience and demonstrated expertise with GN&C hardware components or GN&C-related engineering labs. .

Familiarity with functional Engineering processes, including performance appraisals, promotion planning, employee mentoring, and/or hiring. Must be capable of regular domestic travel.

Ability to obtain a TS-SCI clearance which requires US Citizenship

Desired skills Broad knowledge of SSC resources, expertise, command media, and operations related to assigned area.

Advanced degree in appropriate technical area.

Experience in multiple LOBs

Industry insight of GNC product developments

Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) experience.

Current SCI clearance highly desired. TS desired.
