OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY This occupation requires the assembly and installation of electrical and electronic systems and equipment on test specimens and the modification and maintenance of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic aerospace ground equipment (AGE) where all necessary information is provided and established plans and work methods are applied.

WORK PERFORMED Perform duties such as the following; working under the direction of higher rated mechanics and technicians on team assignments or independently with well defined information or instructions:

• Fabricate and assemble structural details for and perform repair, modification and maintenance assignments on AGE electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems using metal drilling, grinding, cutting, bending and related metal working tools and equipment as required.

• Assemble, install and connect electrical and electronic systems, mechanisms and structures to test specimens. Maintain, modify, disassemble and repair AGE and ground handling equipment following established procedures, blueprints and shop procedures.

• Assist in checkout of environmental test instrumentation and installation of test specimens in thermal vacuum chambers by performing varied physical and mechanical tasks as directed or in accordance with established routine. Perform preventative maintenance and repair on mechanical ground handling equipment and AGE fluid systems.

• Assist technicians and higher rated mechanics in the performance of pneumatic leak checks on propulsion systems and on other varied assignments as required. Connect and monitor nitrogen and helium pressure carts during ambient and environmental test. Take moisture and contamination samples from the cart and connect battery fluid cooling systems during charging and discharging tests. Clean thermal control surfaces and perform emissivity and reflectivity test on thermal control surfaces.

May support launch base propellant handling and vehicle fueling including Self- Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE) or similar operations.

Basic Qualifications Ability to read and follow Company preventative maintenance specifications. Knowledge of basic shop theory and practices. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, test instructions and similar documents.

Ability to use hand tools and equipments such as drills, files, hand shears, rivet sets and scales. Knowledge of and ability to use arithmetic including addition and subtraction of fractions and decimals. Elementary knowledge of electricity, hydraulics and pneumatics. Knowledge of environmental test setups.

Certification for the Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE) certification may be required.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Desired skills Must be able to read and work from schematics, engineering drawings, wiring lists, sketches, wiring connection lists and other information and documentation. Knowledge of Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations, Electrical Troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of general test equipment operations, knowledge of mechanisms. Knowledge of environmental test operations. Knowledge of proper use of standard hand tools.

Electrical trouble shooting skills Assembly of RF components/ wave guides and cabling Usage and knowledge of adhesives and bonding materials Knowledge and experience of crane operations, lifting and handling Knowledge and experience in spacecraft ground processing life cycle in preparation for launch/mission operations
