Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineer Senior in Huntsville, Alabama

The candidate will be required to lead design, drafting and implementation of hydraulic, pneumatic and related mechanical systems for flight hardware and/or ground structures compliant with customer requirements and Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company best practices as part of a multi-functional design team to support TCP principal engineers in activities related to developing, revising, and releasing engineering drawings. Key activities will include implementing designs necessary to complete drawing and model changes, incorporating redlines, federating parts and materials, coordinating changes necessary for release in EPDM, and related supplier oversight and support required to successfully enable product delivery. Will also chair table top reviews, manufacturing reviews, initiate procurement, capture ICD requirements, and meet PDR and CDR requirements for these systems. The candidate will be responsible for planning, developing and releasing mechanical design packages using Pro-E/CREO and EPDM for release. The position will have the responsibility of a Target Vehicle sub-system Certified Principal Engineer (CPE). Ability to coordinate/approve teammates/sub-contract design packages. Candidate shall be required to support operations including functional testing of hardware and systems, troubleshooting these systems and making quick independent technical decisions. The candidate will be required to present at Engineering Review Boards, Configuration Control Boards, Failure Review Boards as required. The candidate will be expected to handle aspects of product acceptance reviews and certifications as CPE of assigned hardware for flight. Some travel to support assembly, integration and testing of hardware and systems. Candidate will be required to present/coordinate with the TCP customers.

Basic Qualifications - Bachelors degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technologies, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. - Experience with mechanical concept development and design for flight - Experience with detailed engineering drawing creation and release - Knowledge of mechanical hardware manufacturing processes - Fundamental understanding of structures, materials, and processes - Hands-on hardware experience - Fluency in mechanical 3D modeling methods and practices for components, assemblies, and drawing creation using CREO software - Knowledge of Mechanical Design principles including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) - Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences - Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong cross-organization relationships - Must have an interim secret clearance prior to start - Ability to obtain and maintain a secret government security clearance

Desired skills Experience designing flight hardware and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment, and seeing own designs through fabrication and testing. Experience producing and releasing Engineering Documentation (models, drawings, ICDs, specs, SOWs). Supplier/Subcontract and Procurement experience. Liaison Engineering, Assembly, Integration and Test experience. Experience performing Design Analysis (thermal, stress, dynamics). Certified Test Conductor experience. Experience with Pro-E, EPDM, and SAP. Experience interacting and presenting to Customers and senior Program management, Experienced with Launch Vehicle configurations and detailed design of Flight Structures. Proficient at GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and using Pro s. Mechanical Design Certified Principle Engineer or equivalent experience. FFMEA, assembly integration and testing experience including launch operations. Extensive experience using Pro-E/CREO Computer Aided Design tools.
