Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Engineer Staff/ Advanced Development Programs in Palmdale, California
This engineering position is with our Historic Skunk Works in Palmdale, California. This position supports the LM Aero - Advanced Development Program as Vehicle Systems Engineer, Staff for the Flight Control and Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) integration team. Candidate will have hands-on hardware experience and software skills. Candidate will troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues and perform integration and test. Candidate will participate in Flight Test. This position demands application of systems engineering and thorough coordination between FCS product team and subsystems product team. Create and maintain related documentation The candidate will support system/software verification and validation effort and customer reviews during all phases of system development. The candidate will support integration and system check outs (SCO’s) procedures on flight test article and support pre-flight and post-flight analysis and reviews. Candidate will have familiarity with Vehicle Management System hardware.
Good oral and written communication skills are required as is the ability to flex and adapt in a fast-paced team environment. Complex organization and documentation skills are required. Ability to develop solutions to specific technical challenges. Selected applicant will be subjected to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and special program clearances.
Must be a US Citizen, position is located at a facility that requires special access. A Secret Security Clearance is needed and a clearance investigation must have been conducted within the last 5 years
Basic Qualifications Flight Control System /Vehicle Management System (VMS) experience.
Bachelor or above degree in an Engineering related discipline.
Desired skills Experience supporting Flight Test.
Experience with system build, system integration, and test.
Experience in all aspects of the VMS development lifecycle: architecture, requirements, design, development, integration, testing, and flight test.
Experienced working ICDs, Data bus interfaces, hardware/software integration.
Knowledge and experience with failure management of redundant flight critical systems.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate with systems engineering from other teams; with hardware designers, propulsion, utilities and subsystems, and test and verification.
Experience with the development, operational checkout and formal test of flight critical systems for a new aircraft program
Demonstrated ability coordinating with systems engineering, hardware designers and subsystems.
Experience with managing suppliers.
Excellent communication skills
Active Secret and ability to obtain a Secret SAP/SAR clearance/access
