Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineer Associate in Sunnyvale, California
The candidate will work closely with an experienced engineer to create 3D solid models in CREO and/or IDEAS of space flight avionics and Specialty Test Equipment (STE) as well as perform some themal and structural analysis for electronics packages. The candidate will support trade studies on electronic packaging design approaches and will provide technical data for informal and formal Design Review documentation and presentations. The candidate will coordinate with thermal, dynamic, stress, reliability, EMC, and survivability analyses to assure compliant designs. The candidate will support manufacturing and test disciplines in minimizing cycle time and resolving electronic packaging problems. Working closely with an experienced engineer, the candidate will establish specifications for contract assemblers and raw-material vendors. Interface with Parts Engineering, Quality Assurance and Purchasing regarding material quality and vendor performance. Provide producible designs that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements, and work within an Integrated Product Team environment. The candidate will prepare all applicable drawings and documentation needed for the fabrication and assembly of the hardware designed.
The candidate will be expected to work a 9/80 schedule and should be willing to work occasional overtime.
Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline.
Strong mechanical aptitude. This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen.
Desired skills Knowledge of advanced packaging technologies including Surface Mount Technology (SMT), advanced materials and parts. Experience working on the development of spaceflight receivers, amplifiers, EPC's, High Voltage Electronics and Hybrid assemblies. Working knowledge of the following: 1. Experience in Electronic Packaging of space flight avionics in a model-based environment 2. ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. 3. CREO Solid modeling and drafting or similar 3D CADD modeling software. 4. Experience with Mentor, Zuken, IDEAS 5. Drafting techinques and manufacturing processes. 6. Experience in Additive and/or Advance manufacturing techniques Able to take direction and work with senior engineers.
