Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineer, Staff Level in Titusville, Florida

Design and develop Ground Support Equipment (GSE) fluid systems to support the fabrication of flight hardware and GSE. Develop concepts, requirements, documentation, analysis, designs, models, source control drawings, and procurement specifications for various types of fluid systems and related components. Support the overall design, installation, equipment/system validation, and the development of processes using the fluid systems. The ability to perform fluid calculations, size, determine component selection for specific applications, perform gas and/or liquid analyses of fluid systems using both software and hand calculations to predict results (e.g. flow rates, pressures, delta pressure) is required. Fluid system commodities may involve the following fluids: ECS, propylene glycol, Freon, ammonia, air, argon, helium, nitrogen, oxygen, potable water, waste management, nitrogen tetroxide, monomethylhydrazine, and hydrazine.

Additionally, the candidate shall be able to interface with fabrication personnel to correct and resolve design, production and fabrication discrepancies. Coordinate technical matters with other engineering disciplines and teammates. Develop engineering estimates and support management requests for status. Review, troubleshoot and re-design basic mechanical systems ranging from fluid flow systems to machine design systems. The ability to quickly comprehend a situation and determine the design requirements, develop a staged process approach and finally implement new designs within a variety of customer situations. Effectively work within a highly dynamic team of engineers, designers and drafters. Candidate must possess effective written and verbal communication skills and maintain a high level of professionalism.

Basic Qualifications • This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen •Experience designing GSE fluid systems •Perform both hand and software fluid calculations using AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow •Determine component selection for specific applications •Experience at developing engineering documentation such as drawings, specifications, statement of work, etc. •Experience with fluid analysis for systems such as ECS, hydraulic, pneumatic, hypergolic or other fluid systems •Microsoft Office Tools - Excel, PowerPoint and Word proficient

Desired skills •NX Nastran Experience •Familiar with Fabrication Processes - Machining, Welding, Piping Punching and Sheet Metal Forming, etc.
